Gastropub 2026 now has a live, partner-facing project page. It explains the first version of an international development franchise for independent gastropubs: help each location become stronger in its own market while keeping its name, local identity and guest relationships.
“Built” describes the published project and its initial proposition. It does not mean that the franchise is operating or that the commercial model has been proven.
What is in place
The project page brings together the initial offer to pub partners:
- commercial development: understanding local markets, refining the offer, digital visibility, sales capability and continued improvement;
- purchasing, operating routines and systems that help locations turn good processes into value;
- organisational learning, from onboarding and role development through to a thoughtful offboarding process;
- a visual direction that can connect locations while leaving room for local expression;
- location development and practical setup, including systems and physical improvements where needed.
The onboarding is framed as a 180-day project. It covers physical changes and system setup where necessary, onboarding the organisation, and operating through checkable milestones. Day 90 is an internal quality review; day 180 is a review of commercial development. Neither is a promise of a particular revenue outcome.
The next evidence
The project still needs experienced pub operators, suitable pilot locations and specialist partners. We need to test the unit economics, agree fair partner terms, select systems and suppliers, and learn what support the franchise organisation must provide. Those steps will show whether the proposition can work in practice and travel across different markets.
The linked working question remains open: Can a gastropub become a repeatable hospitality business without losing its local identity?. The public project page gives that question a concrete starting point; evidence from operating locations will determine what comes next.
