A timeline of changing questions

This is not a career timeline. It is a timeline of questions I have kept returning to — and how they have changed.

2014 — Who matters, and what do they need?

The problem looked mostly like communication and marketing. The question underneath it was broader: how do we understand the people and organizations that matter before we decide what to say?

2018–2020 — What if marketing and sales are not separate problems?

Commercialization became a broader umbrella for marketing, sales, technology, relationships, data, process and value creation.

2021–2023 — How do we make the system operational?

The questions moved toward workflow, data, automation, platforms and orchestration.

2024–2025 — What happens if the organization does not learn?

Organizational learning became much more central to how I thought about growth.

2026 — What changes when AI can participate in the loop?

The questions moved toward signals, evidence, model adequacy, isolation, outcomes and learning.

Today

The tools have changed. My understanding has changed. I expect both to keep changing.
